Davis Bike Club Contributes to Fire Relief

The Davis Bike Club recently contributed a total of $20,000 to organizations in Napa and Sonoma Counties, for recovery efforts after the October wildfires. For the entire affected region, $5,000 was sent to the Redwood Credit Union Community Fund. For Napa, another $5,000 was split between the Napa Valley Community Foundation and the Cope Family Center.

Another $10,000 was donated to the Santa Rosa Cycling Club, informally a sister organization to the Davis Bike Club. In the Tubbs Fire, the Santa Rosa Cycling Club experienced a total loss of the stored equipment they use for the Wine Country Century, a 100-mile recreational bike ride held each May, and for the Terrible Two 200-mile event in June. These are Sonoma County equivalents of Davis Bike Club’s Foxy’s Fall Century and Davis Double Century bike rides. All four events promote recreational bicycling while also raising funds that support a variety of charitable causes.

The $20,000 special fire relief donation adds to Davis Bike Club’s prior charitable donations of $17,500, for total charitable donations of $37,500 in 2017.
