The Fast-Pace ride heads north out of Davis, goes east along County Road 29 before turning south-west through the perimeter of the Yolo County Airport. The ride continues south on Road 95 to Sievers, then heads east, crosses over Interstate 80, and continues east on Tremont to Mace Boulevard. On Mace, we proceed north into South Davis city limits, ending with a snack break (currently Common Grounds). There, the ride officially ends, with groups and individuals using various routes to their respective homes.
The pace can become almost sprint level along the flat and level Road 95 and Tremont, especially if there’s a good northwesterly wind to aid us. That same northwest can make the northbound leg on Mace challenging. Riders are expected to regroups as necessary, to ensure nobody is left alone.
A note about ‘pace’: Although this ride is designated as P5, frequently there are riders in attendance who prefer cycling at a more moderate P4 pace. It is not uncommon for a group of P4-ers to join together at a slower pace. Please don’t let the advertised P5 pace keep you from participating. As we’ve seen, some enjoy an even faster pace. If you’re riding at P6, don’t let us slow you down. We’ll see you back at the barn.
