Reservations are now open for the Davis Bike Club’s Humboldt County Tour!
Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9, 2026, we’ll explore the beauty of California’s Redwood Coast with three rides in three days. We’ll stay in one spot and roll out each day for a new adventure—towering redwoods, rugged coastline, and charming small towns. Read the review of this tour from 2025 by Jean Jackman.
Tour lead, Mary Elise Conzelmann, grew up in this area, so you’ll get local tips and learn about off-the-beaten-path spots most visitors miss.
There is no SAG support for this tour. The tour is open only to DBC members.
Our basecamp will be Hotel Arcata, right on the eclectic Arcata Plaza. Step outside for coffee, shops, and evening strolls to the Redwood Community Forest or Arcata Marsh.

Planned rides
Friday, August 7
Evening Eureka Social Ride
20-25 miles / 770′ elevation
Unwind after driving with an easy, fun group ride to Downtown Eureka for dinner. We’ll pedal along the newly completed Humboldt Bay Trail—a fully separated, scenic path perfect for bikes and pedestrians—enjoying fresh bay breezes and lively streets of this historic coastal town.
Saturday, August 8
Trinidad & Sue-meg State Park
46 miles / 2,700′ elevation
A day of stunning coastal views and iconic redwoods awaits! We’ll ride from Arcata up to the charming town of Trinidad, then venture into Sue-meg State Park (formerly Patrick’s Point State Park). Expect scenic ocean overlooks and a chance to soak in the rugged Northern California coastline by bike. A short section riding on Highway 101 and some gravel sections due to erosion. Most of the ride is on quiet roads.
Sunday, August 9
Option 1: Blue Lake Loop
26.5 miles / 2,200′ elevation
Explore the peaceful countryside around Blue Lake with this gently rolling loop. This option offers a quieter, inland ride through farmland and forest.

Take a detour on your drive home through the legendary Avenue of the Giants. This route winds through towering redwoods and ancient forests along the old Highway 101 corridor. Majestic trees, serene roads, and plenty of photo ops.
