March Madness Starts in:

March is the best time to get out and ride your bike — lovely cool days, almond blossoms, egrets, and little baby lambs. That’s why everyone should sign up for the Davis Bike Club’s March Bicycle Madness. Choose your mileage goal and challenge yourself to ride your bike more than you thought possible – around town, around the county, around the world, to commute, for pleasure or to buy groceries at Target. How you get your miles is all up to you!
While you are logging miles, you will also be helping support bike education in local schools. Last year, the Davis Bike Club donated $1450 to the Bike Campaign, which was matched through Big Day of Giving, for a grand total of over $2900!
How Does March Madness Work?
Riders fill out an online application, set a mileage goal for the month of March, and pay a participation fee. The registration fee is $25.00 for adults and $11.00 for children. The minimum number of miles is 10 miles. There is no upper limit…
Riders then ride as much as they can during the month of March and keep track of all their bicycle miles online with the 2025 March Bicycle Madness Mileage Tracker. After you register for March Bicycle Madness, you will get access to enter your mileage in the tracker.
To make sure all participants are covered by our insurance policy, we are requiring all March Madness
participants to be Davis Bike Club members. Learn about DBC membership here
Please remember…
- After you register, your name will be entered in the mileage tracker spreadsheet.
- Feel free to change your name to your favorite handle (If you had one at registration we will populate it) or add or correct your goal. Then add your mileage as you ride.
- Please update your mileage as soon as possible after your ride – within a day of your ride so your competitors have a fair chance to head out for an evening 20k if they need to catch up!
- Mileage tracking is based on the honor system …on your honor you track and record the miles you ride
- Indoor riding is limited to a total of 1000 miles, so spin classes, stationary bicycles, etc… Indoor riding is also limited to 15 miles per hour on spin bikes, stationary bikes, etc…unless your stationary bike has an odometer that tracks actual miles per hour
- Electric bikes with no throttle are welcome to participate
Get out and ride!
